Kanaklal Swargiary (1952-2016) was an Indian well-known Bodo folk singer, lyricist, composer and All India Radio artist. He was born on 1st October 1952 at Geruapara village of Sorupeta under Barpeta district (then Kamrup) in Assam to Bodo speaking family Sobaram Swargiary.
He started his early singing career since his school days. He got inspired to sing and pen lyrics with various programmes where he participated as an audience. Later he participated as a participant and keep his career till his successful in music world. The Bodo program under All India Radio, Guwahati station was launched in 1975. He recorded his first song in 1976.
Knnaklal famous for his some evergreen songs and own lyrics in Bodo language like Besor bariyao swr sikhwla, Bwrsi dwima barnaini agwi laisari, Somaina somaina (sung with Khontaimoni Patgiri) and Unaosw jwng dabw, Swrgwfuri Aie Asssama, Sapunor Ranghur, Aikhoni Mur Gaon, Keni Gol Lorali, Prem A Swarga etc.
He was penned the lyrics of Bodo songs cassate named Pami, where famous singers Sulekha Basumatary , who is known as Dengkhwrani in Bodo music and Arun Narzary gave their melodious voice.
Kanaklal contributed to Bodo and Assamese music and culture a lot by singing songs and penned lyrics. He was one of the persons that who inspired Bodo and Assamese youths in music and culture. He was closely related to the Bodo program of All India Bodo, Guwahati till his death. He breathed his last on 28th December 2016.
