Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Academy, Amteka also known as GKB Academy, Amteka and GKBAA is a Bodo medium residential school. The school is located at Amteka forest village falls under Borobazar block in Chirang district. The school lies 26.7326491 north latitude and 90.5354066 east longitude. It was founded on 9th February 2009 by the Amteka Brahma Dharma Society. It is the first Bodo medium and residential private school established in the area. The school has an adequate campus in total 14 bigha own land.
Karuna Brahma and Birdao Basumatary aka Bimal Basumatary, the founder President and Secretary of the School Managing Committee respectively, and Daitun Mashahary was the founder Principal of the institution. In the inaugural year, there were a total of 76 students, five teachers and total classes from Nursery to III. The former Deputy Chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, Shri Kampa Borgoyary inaugurated the school. The event was attended by the social workers of the Amteka area, faculty members, teachers, students, well wishers of the society, many local people and distinguished guest from the Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam.
Initially, the school was named Swarup Sthithi Bidyalaya, which was renamed Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Academy in the year 2012. It is named after the social reformer and the multifaceted personality Kalicharan Brahma. The aim and objectives of the school is to provide higher education by imparting quality education, creating talented students who will work for peace in society, unity, proper development of the community and the country.
In the year 2017, the first batch students appeared the HSLC Examination under the Principalship of Tularam Brahma. There were a total 28 students who appeared the exam, 12 students got first division, 14 students got second division and one student got third division.
The first batch students of our academy graduated a total 15 numbers with honours in different subjects in Arts, Commerce and Science Stream. At presently, they are pursuing masters’ degree under Bodoland University, Gauhati University and Dibrugarh University. Many students are also working in different fields after completed their graduation for their living and run family.
Since the year of 2017, the academy has appeared seven times in matriculation examination. Till date, a total of 195 students have passed the HSLC Examination from our academy. As many as 67 students have secured first class, star and distinction.
Our school has produced 100% results in three times since its appear in HSLC Examination conducted by SEBA. The last year has also given cent percent result. But the most unfortunate thing is that the Principal of our school, Birjoy Brahma, has unknowingly lost his life in a motorcycle accident. He was a courageous teacher, energetic leader, social worker and empathetic person as well.
A presently, the Principal of Gurudev Kalicharan Brahma Academy, Amteka is Ronjoy Brahma. Satish Basumatary and Nimal Narzary are working for the development of the school by taking the responsibility of the President and General Secretary of the School Management Committee respectively. According to the 2023, there are total 25 numbers of employees and 45 Executive members of School Managing Committee in the institution.
