The Bodo film industry, also known as Bodoland Film industry or Boro Saothun Mulug, produces films in the Bodo language, primary spoken in Assam, India. The Bodo film industry continues to grow, showcasing Bodo culture, language, and talent. The film began in the late twentieth century. Incidentially, Bodo’s first film was a documentary film called Daina, produced by Bodo Film Society. The film was written by the dramatist Kamal Kumar Brahma, and directed by Amar Hazarika. It’s starred by Ganakanata Basumatary, Sitalakanta Brahma and Prasenjit Brahma. The music was rendered by Bhupen Hazarika.

Jwngdao Bodosa was keen on bringing out the best of Bodo cinema. He went to Mumbai and studied filmmaking. He was the first Bodo film director to produce a feature film in Bodo language. He directed the film Alayaron in 1986. It’s the film that paved the way for the development of Bodo cinema.
